About

Meet Viji

Viji Murali grew up surrounded by culture and arts in the heart of Chennai and was exposed to carnatic music early in her childhood. For several years, she studied under Smt. Lakshmi and Smt. Annapurna at Rukmani Vidyalaya in Chennai – this gave Viji the opportunity to perform and demonstrate her talents before notable legends like Sr Maharajapuram Santhanam, Smt. Mani Krishnaswamy, Sr. B.V. Raman and B.V. Lakshamanan, and even having the honour of performing at Doordarshan and being featured multiple times on All India Radio.

Carnatic Vidyalaya’s Vision

Teaching Carnatic music for 23 years and counting, Viji has given her students the same opportunities she was provided, eliciting the talent from her students and giving them platforms like galas and large events to showcase their talents. With students ranging from 3 to 17 years old, Viji demonstrates her exemplary teaching capabilities by not just instilling the spirit of the music within her students, but opening their minds to the impact of this cultural phenomenon on the history of India itself.

Commitment

Having established herself as a pillar of the community, Viji strives to continue teaching, inspiring and bringing the best out of both parents and children alike. Uniting people from the far corners of Georgia through mesmerising events and raw inspiration, she continues to be an icon that enables families to revel in their child’s talents.
